This weekend was one of my best friend's weddings...Megan and Aaron got married after dating for almost four years. These two people are so precious to me and standing up there, listening to Megan say her vows, I couldn't help but think back to when they first started dating. Megan would run down to my office or call my extension to ask me how she should reply to an email. Then there were the trials (and joys, since Megan is so fiercely independent) of long-distance dating. Then Aaron moved to Birmingham...giving up a job he loved, finding another great one that came along with a hefty commute and Megan giving up the comfort of living with friends to take a huge step in their relationship.
Knowing that they met in college and didn't go on their first date until years later, at which time they were states apart, has reminded me about the beauty and timing of God's plans. Megs and I have both had several tearful conversations about why this guy or that guy broke our hearts, and seeing the two of them dancing at their wedding (which was hilarious, naturally) showed me exactly why God allowed her to go through pain and times of questioning and doubt. Their relationship makes me hopeful about the bull-nah-nah, as Hiliary Henderson calls it, that I have had to go through and the amazing places life is going to take me. So congratulations, Megan and Aaron! I can't wait to come over and eat ranch chicken or jalapeno stuffed pork loin with the two of you as Mr. and Mrs. Latham!!
